Patchwork Goodness!

We have been busy, sewing away. We rescued these patchwork pieces a few months ago and finally we found the inspiration we needed to make something up with them. These beautiful, hand pieced, vintage 30s or 40s, patchwork, quilt pieces needed to finally be turned into something and their shape was just perfect for these canvas purses!

Adorned with bright, springy, vintage buttons.

And here's a little preview of the bags that are coming next......

I am still working on the photos of mom's new children's clothing. Soon, I promise. I got to spin today for the first time since I was probably 8 years old. It's very methodical and I find it extremely relaxing. Our first spinning class is tomorrow and mom and I are excited! We will be having more spinning soon, so if you'd like to come and join us, feel free!

The Prettiest Laundry Bag Ever!

Look at this gorgeous thing that one of our customers, Chris, brought in to torture us with the other day!

I want to live in a time when we want to put that much beautiful work into a laundry bag! Does anyone know - is there a specific name for the technique that she used in the flowers?

The shop has been slow this week - I think everyone is out in their gardens! We miss our busy days, but it has given us time to SEW! Mom has finished two ADORABLE pieces - an easter dress, size 3 and springy, girlie overalls, size 1 - I'll share pictures soon! And she just started today making clutch purses with canvas and vintage quilt pieces - so cute!

I have actually been working on a quilt made with Moda's new Simplicity line by Three Sisters. Very sweet colors with baby green fine wale corduroy for the backing. I very pleased with it but I'm ready for it to be done.

Happy Spring Everyone! (at least for the moment)

Katie Jean Created a Bunting!

Ooooo! Our customers have been busy! I read on Katie Jean's Blog that she finished her bunting and sent it off to Glitter and Grunge!

Katie stopped by the shop one day and I think we spent hours looking through all of our vintage patterns and we found this great baby bunting pattern and adorable vintage flannel and we had the perfect solid cotton to match! Isn't it fantastic? The flannel has pink elephants and yellow dogs on it!

That was the only piece that we had of that darling flannel but we have other great vintage flannel prints in the shop and we have a great stripe in our "vintage fabric" section of our Etsy shop.

Thank you so much for sharing Katie!
