Linda Pietz brought in her sample for the Puss in Boots doll that will be the project for one of her upcoming classes here at the Thimble. While I was googling Linda to see if her teaching schedule was up online somewhere I found this article about one of her classes. Aren't those brassieres fantastic?? We are very excited to have Linda back to teach!

My Auntie
My aunt, Carin Engen (who I lovingly refer to as Auntie Carin), is not only talented but is also a wonderful teacher. She teaches classes all over the west coast and she always leaves behind a group of excited and inspired students. Just look at these students from her last Nuno Felted Scarf class here at the Thimble.

The Little Fat Policeman
Look at this adorable fabric!

My grandmother-in-law had been hiding this away in her closet since 1950-something and it has finally been uncovered to be turned into wonderful, wonderful things. This is actually a "Little Golden Book" fabric print. It's right there on the selvage. If your not familiar with this book, here's a scan of the whole thing. Absolutely adorable!
So mom and I have been trying to create some items for baby boys and this fabric just screamed BABY BOY!

We're so excited about these silkies! Can't you feel the excitement? :-)

Prom Night
So Chris and I decided to have a theme at the last swing dance at the Portuguese Hall. Prom Night! Era left to our attendees discretion (we figured that would make for an interesting night). One of our students emailed us asking if we were sure we wanted a prom night theme - he attached this link to the email that had pictures of just TERRIBLE prom outfits. We cracked up! Bad and awkward prom outfits were exactly what we were looking for!

Check out the shoes!! He actually danced in those all night!

The Tin Thimble's First Pattern!
Well, life has been crazy! We've been having family reunions in the Emergency Room (don't worry, everyone is okay, just pretty normal medical emergencies!), my parents moved an elderly family member home with them so they could care for him, Chris and I are selling my car, mom made Hannah's prom dress (absolutely gorgeous!) and we've all be plugging along with our small businesses somewhere in between.
For Mother's day I actually made mom something! I made her these adorable shorts from this pattern. I have to admit I was skeptical about them because of the lack of a zipper and having the elastic and all, but they turned out darling! And they fit mom like someone made them for her! :-)
